About Me

I'm Caroline — a veterinary surgeon with 19 years of clinical experience, and the vet behind Vet On A Bike.

I qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2007, and I'm a Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Since then my career has taken me from equine first opinion and referral hospital work — orthopaedics, poor performance, advanced imaging — to canine emergency surgery with the Military Working Dogs on the front line in Afghanistan, leading veterinary care for Military Working Horses and Military Working Dogs, to commanding a military veterinary hospital responsible for deployable veterinary care. Along the way I've treated everything from Household Cavalry horses in London to the family cat and the neighbour's spaniel, in small animal and equine first opinion practice, in equine hospitals, and in places with no hospital at all (or running water!).

I've run practices solo, led multidisciplinary clinical teams, written veterinary policy, and taught the next generation of vets and vet students. I've presented at BEVA and the OV Conference, and I'm a named
author on a peer- reviewed paper on equine cardiac ultrasound. In 2023 and 2026 I was the veterinary commentator for the BBC's accessible coverage of Trooping the Colour — 12 years of experience with Military Working Horses, put to a slightly different use.

That's a long way of saying: I've seen a lot of animals, in a lot of situations, and I care deeply about getting their care right.

Why a bike

Vet On A Bike is exactly what it sounds like: a mobile veterinary service that gets to you by bicycle, not by car or van. That's not a gimmick — it's the point.

A bike doesn't sit in traffic, doesn't need a parking space, and doesn't burn fuel between appointments. In a city like London, it's often the faster way to reach you — and it's a quieter, calmer arrival for an animal that's already a little on edge about the vet. No engine, no exhaust, no idling outside your door. Just a vet, a bag of kit, and two wheels.

It's a small choice with a real effect: lower emissions, less noise, less congestion, one appointment at a time. Sustainable veterinary care isn't just about the products I recommend — it's about how the care itself gets delivered.

Starting small, building bigger

Right now, Vet On A Bike focuses on vaccinations and travel certificates for small animals, plus equine vaccinations. The aim is to grow this into a full mobile, at home clinic for both small animals and horses across London — all still on two wheels, no waiting room, no van, just a vet who comes to you.

Alongside that, you'll find a small, complementary shop of specialist, evidence backed products — things like the Relaxo Pet range. It's
secondary to the clinical work, but chosen with the same clinical eye: if it's
